                                                  Fishing            Reports

  • Jan. 26    Van Soles won the southern bass masters open, a big one on Toho with 50.15 lbs. and 40 ,000 bucks. Cool. Crooked Lake a bit cold and slow as I type this , but it all  begins to get better and better from here on till March and beyond and gets awesome for the fishing. Best time to fish for Bass now is an extended warm front , one that last 10 days or more is ideal. A heavy warm rain preceding the warm front is ideal. Crappie fishing is very good on Crooked lake at nights as well as days on warm fronts. Best on calm nights under lites. More to come soon here so drop me a line for info.

FEB. 11

Mid 70"s warm front with highs near 80 degrees today here on Crooked Lake. Fish beds showing up on most local lakes here. 10 to 13 lb. Bass on Toho and most big lakes being caught. As well as smaller fish. Winds to pick up today till Friday . I like to fish the North or sheltered coves that are sheltered from the wind on high wind days.

Spawning should keep going for most fish and is well underway now , if cold fronts stay away that should continue.

July 27

Water levels up from rains. Bass in a summer pattern as always and pan fish feeding well on Crooked Lake. Water quality very good.

Sept. 17

The first good cold fronts are yet to arrive but the last of September should see falling water temps. Bass and pan fishing will pick up with the drop in temps.

Jan. 1 2015

Bass fishing has been good last year while pan fishing has been off and on with the weather fronts. This years mild winter so far should bring Bass and other fish to the beds early this year. Some bass beds are already ready to go now. Air temps. in the mid 70's today and water temps. are good for spawning to begin now.

Cold fronts will move fish out of the shallow areas and into deep water as warm fronts will bring fish back shallow to spawn and feed.

Jan.31, 2015

Good warm front this week and bass on beds and pan fish also starting. Big bass being caught on most lakes in the area. Expect more small bass than wall hangers , small ones out number big fish, just the way it is. This warm front seems stable and should produce good fish for 10 days or so.

Feb.15 2015

A 3 day warm  front starting today and should produce some very big bass and pan fish the next few days.  With !0 lb. + bass on most area lakes being caught now.The following cold front Wednesday should slow things till next warm front hits.

Feb.   4    2016

Spawning season is starting out well this year and there are beds holding fish when the weather stays stable. As with other years cold fronts push the fish to deeper areas and they return as the weather calms and warms. Fish are on the bite or off the bite pretty much with weather patterns. Crooked lake is deep and warms slower than shallow lakes. Several days before a cold front hits this time of year, is usually the best time to fish for bass.

The fishing should be great in the shallows till late March for bass. Pan fishing also should hold up well. The post spawn period can be good also if I can stay on the changing locations of fish as they move into deeper water in late March thru June.

Contact me by E-mail or call  and leave a message by phone for any information about guiding or just how the fish are biting and weather outlook.

Feb.11 2017

The Bass spawn is on and Fish are hitting well before cold fronts.

Feb.15 , 2018

Bass on beds in Crooked Lake and all other area lakes around here now.

The bite can be hard to find at times but slow and soft fishing any shallow area should put you on fish in time. Soft weedless plastic baits do the trick.
